Documents Required for Income Tax Return

 1. Basic Details

Income Tax Login (Preferred)

👉 From: incometax.gov.in

Used to access your tax data directly.

PAN & Aadhaar (if login not available)

👉 From: your PAN card & Aadhaar card

Required for filing your return.

Bank Account Details

👉 From: cheque / bank app / passbook

Required for refund credit.


2. Salary & Other Income

Form 16 / Salary Details

👉 From: your employer / HR portal

Used to report salary income and TDS.

Rent Details (if applicable)

👉 From: your records / rent agreement

Required for HRA claim or rental income.


3. Home Loan (if any)

Home Loan Statement

👉 From: bank / loan account

Used to claim deduction on interest and principal.


4. Tax Saving Investments

Investment Proofs (80C, 80D, etc.)

👉 From: LIC / PPF / insurance / mutual fund statements

Used to reduce tax liability.


5. Business or Professional Income (if applicable)

Bank Statements (Business)

👉 From: bank app / net banking

Used to verify income and expenses.

Profit & Loss Details

👉 From: your accountant / Tally

Used to compute income.

Balance Sheet

👉 From: your accountant / Tally

Used for financial reporting.

Loan Statements

👉 From: bank / NBFC

Used to compute interest expense.


6. Capital Gains (if applicable)

Share / Mutual Fund Statement

👉 From: broker app or CAMS

Used to calculate capital gains.

F&O / Trading Report

👉 From: broker back office

Used for trading income calculation.

Crypto Report

👉 From: exchange apps

Used to report crypto income.

Property Documents (only if property is sold during the year)

👉 From: registry papers / broker

Used to calculate property capital gains.
